Yesterday I decided to round up all my favorite videos from this year and make a top ten list.

1. M.I.A – Bad Girls. No debate, this is the best video that dropped in 2012. This has been my favorite video throughout the whole year since it dropped in January. Nothing this year has topped this for me. I guess mixing culture and modern aesthetics did it for me. Everything in this video was killing. Car trick. Neon light. The dancing. That horse. Romain Garvis, director of this video has become one of my favorites and his other music videos are great too. Take a look at his work.

2. Good Music – Mercy. Honestly didn’t know what to think about this video the first time I saw but eventually got attach to it. so simple, shot in black in white with crazy good concept. It’s also directed by one of my favorite directors, Nabil Elderkin.

3. Flying Lotus – Until The Quiet Comes. Great visual and shot flawlessly. I love that this was made as a short film. I may have watched this a couple of times a day for a while. I think the whole story was executed well.

4. Toro y Moi – so many details. He just stepped in this last month and killed it. I love this man. This video is so clean and just smooth from start to finish. Made me love him even more after watching. I can’t wait for his album next year.

5. Lana Del Rey – National Anthem. A$AP and Lana? I think that what set it off for me. I love the reenactment of JFK and Jackie.

6. Father John Misty – Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings – Good vs. Evil. Always an interesting fight and exciting to see. I think they brought that to life in this. Plus I love Aubrey Plaza. I wish I could of gone to that party though.

7. Phony Ppl – Statues – I think this is one of their best videos so far. You can never go wrong with keeping it simple but sometimes it’s a lot harder to execute and I think the director really came through it put out a dope visual. This gives me Project X feelings too in the way that it was shot.

8. Jessie Ware – If You Love me I think this was a very creative concept and I loved it. This video is very trippy if you actually watch the whole thing without blinking. I discovered Jessie Ware’s music this year and she has been one of my favorites. All her videos are legit but this was the best one to me.

9. Earl Sweatshirt – Chum Even though I don’t listen to him at all, I stumbled on this video and it became an instant favorite. Dark and a gloom setting it sets the perfect mood for the song.

10. Kids These Days – Doo Wah very creative video. And I love this song. The mini size look. The one shoe on during the performance scene. Etc. Director Austin Vesely has been killing it all year. Directing for Chance the Rapper, other KTD videos and Preston San also. Traphouse Rock was a hit this year too.

HonorableMentions: Big Sean – Guap, Kids These Days – Don’t Harsh My Mellow, OverDoz – Lauren London, Jack White – Sixteen Saltines.
